Ambitious

Starting my largest botanical to date.  Just could not resist these Oak Leaf Hydrangea.  The challenge is that the leaves are already changing and will be dust in a few days.  I have my drawing done to scale from the live specimen and my colors are matched but for the painting I will have to work from a range of photos I’ve taken. I haven’t worked like this yet, preferring to paint from the actual specimen, so this will be a real challenge.  Less stressful for not having to “beat the clock” but maybe more frustrating working from the photo’s.

  1. Hi there, I stumbled upon your blog and your work is stunning! Do you have a closer shot of your progress on this painting? Or the finished piece if it’s come that far? I’m currently taking classes with NYBG as well and I just finished Watercolor I with Kathie.

    1. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. I would love to take one of your classes, your work is exquisite! If only I lived there. I’m working out a few issues with this and will post an update soon!

    2. Thank you for your lovely comment.

The world is getting smaller but not small enough. I too would love to get round a bit. Not that it helps much, but I am hoping to get a workshop going in Norway next summer if there is enough interest. Now that is a beautiful place.
